The 2 MUST DO races to prepare for the demands of Brian Head Odyssey

INTRODUCING GREATER ZION'S BRIAN HEAD ODYSSEY MINI SERIES - Build for Elevation at Brian Head Odyssey

Brian Head Odyssey is a different kind of challenge. It’s not just the distance, it’s not just the terrain, rather it’s the elevation the demands respect. This course combines long alpine climbs, thinner air, and technical sections that demand focus when your legs are already working overtime.

Riders always show up ready. But the ones who ride strong from start to finish? They prepare for what the mountain demands. That preparation doesn’t happen all at once. It’s built, step by step.

Greater Zion’s Brian Head Odyssey Mini Series provides a simple two-race progression designed to prepare you for the specific demands of racing at elevation—so you can ride with control, confidence, and strength when it matters most.

STEP 1: DIAL IN YOUR PACE (Flow State)

Before you take on altitude, you need control over your effort. This is where Fast Times in Richfield delivers the training effort that will help you thrive later on. The race will be held on 6/13/2026 on one of the fastest courses Utah has to offer.

This is your Flow State race where you develop a steady and sustainable effort, find the ability to ride just below your limit, smooth power output over longer efforts, and gain confidence maintaining speed without spikes in effort.

Because at Brian Head Odyssey, going too hard too early doesn’t just cost you energy, it follows you for the rest of the race. Fast Times in Richfield will teach you how to find your pace—and trust it when it counts.

STEP 2: PREPARE FOR THE ENVIRONMENT (Peak Pursuit)

This year ICUP is bringing in a new race venue that will help you take that effort into the mountains. Alpine Rush at Beaver Mountain (7/18/2026) is your Peak Pursuit race that takes you into high-altitude riding on rocky, technical terrain.

This is where you become more comfortable riding at elevation, build strength on sustained alpine climbs, increase your confidence over technical features in thinner air, and learn to maintain focus when fatigue sets in earlier and lasts longer.

Because Brian Head Odyssey doesn’t just test your fitness, it tests how your body responds when the air gets thinner—and how well you manage it.

WHY THIS PROGRESSION MATTERS

Race day feels different when you’ve built toward it. You learn to settle into the climb instead of chasing it. You manage your effort instead of reacting to it. You move through technical terrain with focus, not hesitation.

The elevation is still there; but now, so is your preparation and that changes everything.

MAKE THIS YOUR STRONGEST RIDE OF THE SEASON

The Brian Head Odyssey isn’t a race you want to figure out mid-ride. It’s one you prepare to ride well—from the first climb to the final mile.

Start building now by finding your rhythm at Fast Times in Richfield, train at elevation at Alpine Rush at Beaver Mountain, and finally line up ready for the Brian Head Odyssey.
